The Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) of Greater Las Vegas and McDonald’s restaurants in Southern Nevada celebrated Day of Change – a day to bring awareness to the donation boxes that sit on the counters and at drive-throughs 365 days of the year. This money stays in our local community to benefit the families who depend upon RMHC® while their children receive critical medical care.
This year, seven times the daily average of what is collected in those donation boxes was raised.
To put this into perspective:
Families utilizing the House are asked for a suggested donation amount of $10 per night, but no family is ever turned away for inability to pay. That is why the House relies on the community for funding. At the restaurant located at 8480 Farm Rd., $76.98 was donated in just one day by McDonald’s customers wanting to give back to RMHC®. That is enough to cover a seven night stay for a family simply wanting to stay close to their ill or injured child. That is amazing!
On that very special Day of Change, all customers at Southern Nevada McDonald’s received their meal in a happy meal box with a hand written thank you from a past RMHC® guest. There were eleven
McDonald’s® store locations where employees were sporting Day of Change t-shirts and volunteers were letting customers know where donated money goes. Live remotes from the valley’s top radio
stations were out at the restaurants promoting the cause and sharing their music. “Day of Change was truly a team effort between RMHC®, McDonald’s owner/operators, and the community,” said Alyson McCarthy, Executive Director of the RMHC® Las Vegas. “Image how much could be raised for the families who use the House if everyone knew where the money went! We’re so thankful for McDonald’s support and are looking forward to an even bigger and better event in 2018.”
